Brendan Ahern, KraneShares

Brendan Ahern is the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at KraneShares where he is in charge of the firm’s research, education and investor outreach efforts. He was an early pioneer of the US exchange traded fund (ETF) industry as one of the first 20 employees of iShares by BlackRock. Within iShares, Brendan experienced the proliferation of ETFs and the growth of the ETF industry firsthand.

During his tenure at iShares he saw AUM grow from a few billion to $1.5 trillion. This “from the ground up” experience forged his comprehensive expertise with all aspects of the ETF industry including product development, marketing, branding, and business strategy. Brendan’s role at KraneShares ensures he visits China frequently. He is a veracious consumer of Chinese financial news and is in regular contact with the firm’s Chinese partners.

Brendan is considered a preeminent expert in global financial markets with a particular focus on China, and is often sought after by leading business and financial outlets including but not limited to CNBC, Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal and Investor’s Business Daily.

Brendan graduated from the College of the Holy Cross and has a Master of Science in Financial Analysis from the University of San Francisco.


   

Kevin Lui, China International Capital Corporation (CICC)

Joined China International Capital Corporation (CICC) in 2011, Mr. Liu Gang (Kevin) now holds the title of Executive Director and works as an Equity Strategist in the research department. From a top-down strategy approach by incorporating macro (growth and policy) and micro variables (corporate earnings and valuations etc.), his main responsibility is to provide investors with investment strategies, as well as cross-market/asset/sector allocation recommendations. His focuses include Chinese equities (i.e. H-shares and US ADRs), as well as general global markets (such as US, EU and Japan, and major emerging markets).

Mr. Liu ranked the second in Portfolio Strategy of the 2017 II All-China and Mainland China Best Analysts Ranking.

Prior to CICC, He worked as a Quantitative Strategist with UBS Hong Kong. He obtained his Master’s degrees from both Cornell University and Tsinghua University.


 

 

Frank Maselli, Author, Trainer, Coach, Industry Expert

Frank Maselli is a former U.S. Army officer and thirty plus year veteran of the financial services industry. He started as an advisor with Dean Witter and became a branch manager and Regional Sales Director with PaineWebber in the early 1980’s. From 1996 to 2006 Frank served as the Executive Vice President and National Sales Manager for Natixis, one of the largest and most successful mutual fund families in the world based in Boston.

Frank is now a top-rated speaker, trainer, and industry consultant. He’s the author of three best-selling books and has trained tens of thousands of advisors, wholesalers and managers at nearly every firm in the industry. His keynotes and training programs address the biggest concerns advisors have, but in a modern, entertaining way. No more old-school sales pitches or boring lectures. His delivery is filled with passion, energy, relevance, and tremendous humor. Audiences consistently rank him as the top speaker at every conference he’s attended.

Frank is a native New Yorker and now lives in Raleigh, NC with his wife and two daughters. He is a member of the National Speakers Association, The Planetary Society, Toastmasters, and Mensa.


   

Fred Meissner, The FRED Report

Fred Meissner, president of the Fred Report, has been practicing technical market analysis since 1983 and has worked in the research departments of Merrill Lynch and Robinson-Humphrey/Smith Barney. In addition, he has served the public as a portfolio manager and financial adviser. Meissner is a past president of the Market Technicians Association and is a frequent contributor to Barron's, TheStreet.com, and StreetIQ.com. Meissner holds a B.S. from Trinity University as well as an M.A. from UCLA. He is also a chartered market technician (CMT). Meissner is a frequent lecturer for the finance programs at Howard University and the University of Richmond.


 


Wendy Battleson, Art Strategy Partners

Wendy Battleson is the Co-Founder and Principal of Art Strategy Partners, providing transactional art advisory services to private equity firms, hedge funds, family offices and other high net worth individuals and entities. Wendy founded the company after nearly a decade in various executive positions at Christie’s auction house in New York, London and Hong Kong.
While at Christie’s, Wendy was responsible for developing the strategies and deal structures of $3 billion in annual global art transactions, including all art auction guarantees, third party backing off of risk, financial advances, loans and principal trading of art. Additionally, while at Christie’s, Wendy pioneered and raised approximately $500 million from a major private equity firm for “reverse mortgage loans” against art.

Prior to her time at Christie’s, Wendy served as a key member of the executive team at Cendant Corporation (a former Fortune 100 company) in its corporate spin-off and subsequent IPO on the NY Stock Exchange. Earlier in her career, she was the Managing Director and General Counsel of the world’s largest real estate brokerage licensor and was based in Zurich, Switzerland where she worked and lived for seven years.

Wendy graduated from George Mason University School of Law (J.D., 1993) and holds a degree in Political Science and Economics from James Madison University (B.S., 1990). Wendy speaks publicly on the topics of art financing, guarantees, advances, auction default swaps and the art market, generally, and has been a visiting faculty member in Art, Business and Law at Christie’s Education.


   

Dave Iben, Kopernik Global

David Iben is the Chief Investment Officer of Kopernik Global Investors and is the sole Portfolio Manager of the Kopernik Global All-Cap strategy, Lead Portfolio Manager of the Kopernik Global Unconstrained strategy, Co-Portfolio Manager of the Kopernik Global Long-Term Opportunities strategy and Co-Portfolio Manager of the Kopernik International strategies. He is the Managing Member, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Governors of Kopernik Global Investors.

Prior to Kopernik, Dave managed the $2.7 billion Global Value Long/Short Equity portfolio at Vinik Asset Management, where he was a director and head of the Global Value team (July 2012 through March 2013). Prior to this, Dave was lead portfolio manager, co-founder, chief investment officer, co-president and lead portfolio manager of Tradewinds Global Investors, LLC, a $38 billion (at February 2012) investment firm. He continually managed equity portfolios for Tradewinds (inclusive of its two predecessor firms) from October 1998 through February 2012. He was the portfolio manager for the firm’s Global All-Cap strategy, North American All-Cap strategy, and Global Long/Short strategy, directly managing more than $20 billion assets at the time of his departure. As CIO, Dave directed Tradewinds’ investment activities, including portfolio management, research, trading and risk management. His long-term performance has led to recognition by nationally known publications such as Bloomberg and Morningstar, and to several awards by Lipper and others for top performance in global equity fund management.

From 1996 through 1998 Dave was a senior portfolio manager at Cramblit & Carney. He began his career with Farmers Group, Inc. where over the course of 14 years, he worked his way up from securities analyst/trader to portfolio manager and eventually to director of research and lead portfolio manager for both equity and fixed income strategies. At the time of his departure in 1996, Dave was acting as Farmers’ chief investment officer responsible for $16 billion of investable assets.

Dave earned his bachelor’s degree from University of California, Davis, and his MBA from the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business. He has received the CFA designation and is a member of CFA Institute and CFA Society of Tampa Bay.


 

 

David Bianco, DWS

David Bianco is Chief Investment Strategist for the Americas and Head of U.S. Active Equity Management. As Chief investment Strategist, Mr. Bianco tracks economic and
financial market conditions across the U.S. and the globe. He is part of Deutsche AM’s CIO office and a contributor to the CIO View publication and its investment advisory across asset classes globally.

As Head of U.S. Active Equity Management, Mr. Bianco leads a team of experienced investors responsible for the management of USD 19bn of active equity assets in the
Americas. He sets the S&P 500 and other U.S. equity index targets as well as advising active equity portfolio managers on sector and industry allocation.

Mr. Bianco forecasts S&P earnings using a “middle-up” approach with earnings estimates for each sector using key macro inputs from Deutsche AM economists and asset class specialists from around the world. His equity investment strategies go well beyond calling the broad economic cycle (beta) by considering trends in interest rates, currencies, commodities, capital expenditures/exports, credit conditions and consumption; all of which drive the earnings and valuation of the market and each sector. This approach connects his macro analysis to the stock specific analysis of Deutsche AM portfolio managers to find opportunities and control risk.

Mr. Bianco has 20 years of investment research experience and 12 years as the Chief U.S. Equity Strategist at Deutsche Bank, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and UBS.
He is a visible member of the investment community frequently appearing on CNBC and Bloomberg TV as well as often being quoted in the financial press.

Mr. Bianco was highly ranked by Institutional Investor in the Accounting & Tax and Equity Portfolio Strategy categories from 2002-2016. He served on the professional
advisory committee to the U.S. Financial Accounting Standards Board from 2005 to 2010.

Mr. Bianco is a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He holds a CFA charter and is a member of the Economic Club of New York.


 

 

Todd Buchholz, Economist, Author and Former White House Director of Economic Policy

Todd Buchholz is an internationally-known commentator on the world economy, technology and financial markets. Successful Meetings Magazine featured him in their cover story, “The 21 Top Speakers for the 21st Century.” Todd has served as a director for economic policy at The White House and advised such investment firms as the Soros Fund, Goldman Sachs, and Tiger Management, where he served as a managing director of the $15 billion investment fund.

The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and New York Times regularly feature Todd’s views on politics, the stock market and interest rates. In 2014, when oil traded at $100 per barrel, Todd appeared on national television and forecast a collapse to under $50.

Harvard University awarded Buchholz its annual teaching prize in economics, and he has served as a Fellow at Cambridge University.

He is the author of the acclaimed New Ideas From Dead Economists, and the Wall Street Journal named his new book THE PRICE OF PROSPERITY: WHY RICH NATIONS FAIL AND HOW TO RENEW THEM, a “must-read.” Todd is a co-producer of the Broadway hit musical Jersey Boys. Todd is also active in math education and is the inventor of the Math Arrow, which makes numbers more intuitive for children.


   

Eric Monte, KraneShares

Eric joined KraneShares in 2017 to help the firm achieve its mission of being a leading provider of China-focused Exchange Traded Funds and Chinese investment education for U.S. clients. He is responsible for educating and supporting financial advisors, independent broker-dealers, RIAs, institutions, and banks located in the Metro NYC and Midwest regions.

Eric has ten years of experience in the ETF sector. Prior to joining KraneShares, he worked with RevenueShares ETF’s, one of the first fundamentally weighted ETF providers.

Eric attended Monmouth University, where he received his BA in Business Management. When he is not researching the latest ETF trends, he enjoys golfing and spending time with his friends, family, and fiancé.


 

 

Kyle McGrath, KraneShares

Kyle joined KraneShares to help the firm achieve its mission of being a leading provider of China-focused Exchange Traded Funds and Chinese Investment education for U.S. clients.

Kyle will focus his efforts in the Northeast by deepening relationships with financial advisors, independent broker-dealers, RIAs, institutions, and banks.

Prior to joining KraneShares, Kyle spent five years with WisdomTree where he specialized in ETFs and portfolio construction. Kyle also earned the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) designation in 20016 at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He brings his passion and deep knowledge of ETFs to our educational and product development efforts.

Kyle attended Gettysburg College where he received his BA in Business Management and was Captain of the Men’s Lacrosse Team.


 

 

Chris Hamilton, Invesco

Christopher Hamilton is Head of Portfolio Advisory for Invesco Global Investment Solutions. In this role, Mr. Hamilton leads Advisory Solutions efforts in the wealth management intermediary marketplace, with a focus on providing multi-asset portfolio construction research and guidance to financial advisors and wealth management platforms. As part of the Invesco Global Solutions franchise, he delivers in-depth portfolio research, analytics tools and investment solutions to investors across North America.

Prior to assuming his current position, he was part of the Wealth Management Intermediary strategy team, focused on developing multi-faceted distribution strategies for key clients across multiple channels.

Prior to joining Invesco, Mr. Hamilton was a portfolio manager for U.S. Trust, focused on building out asset allocation and portfolio construction frameworks, and leading manager selection efforts for high-net worth individuals and institutions. He was also director of business analysis for Phillips 66, where he engaged in merger, acquisition and divestiture efforts, as well as capital market activities for the organization.

Mr. Hamilton earned a BA degree in economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, and an MBA from Rice University. He holds the Series 7, 63 and 66 registrations. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Society of Houston.
